No babies have been born in Ratingen since the end of 2022. And on 31 December 2026 the maternity unit at EVK Mettmann closes too. After that there will only be two maternity hospitals in the whole district: in Hilden and in Velbert.
Many women will travel to Düsseldorf, Wuppertal or Solingen to give birth. That often means a delivery room you hardly know beforehand. A team you are meeting for the first time.

How I support you in the district of Mettmann.
I accompany you at your birth, with on-call time around your due date. We meet during pregnancy at your home or online. I can reach Ratingen and Mettmann in about 20 to 30 minutes.
Together we look at your options so you can decide well where you want to have your baby.

I registered at EVK Mettmann. What now?
If your due date is after 31 December 2026, you will need another place to give birth. EVK names hospitals in Hilden, Velbert, Wuppertal, Solingen and Düsseldorf. I am happy to sort through your options with you in an introductory call.
Do you also accompany births in Düsseldorf hospitals?
Yes, of course. Düsseldorf is my home.
Do you replace my midwife?
No. I am a doula, not a midwife. I take care of your wellbeing, the midwife takes care of the medical side. The two complement each other.
