BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY
The power, the intensity, the moment you become parents.
Birth photography that captures what you yourself may not be able to see. Calm, respectful and with a good feel for the right moment.
The moments you may not be able to see yourself.
So much happens at once during a birth. The hand holding yours. Your partner's gaze. The midwife supporting you. Your face in a moment you can't perceive yourself. And then suddenly: this tiny being is lying on your chest.
I want to capture exactly these moments for you. Not just the big moment of birth, but everything that happens in between.
Because I also work as a doula, I know when I can be close and when to step back. The camera is never more important than you.
I photograph your birth, not just the moment of birth.
Birth can't be perfectly planned. And it doesn't have to be.
I accompany you calmly and attentively, observe what happens and capture the small and big moments without staging them.
You don't have to do anything for the camera. You can simply give birth.
Birth photography with a doula's eye
I'm not only a birth photographer, I also accompany women as a doula. This gives me an understanding of the dynamics of a birth, and I know when support is needed and when it's better to stay in the background.
My aim isn't to get as close to everything as possible. My aim is to capture the story of your birth in a way that you'll recognise yourselves in later.
Capture the story of your birth?

What exactly do you photograph at a birth?
I don't just photograph the birth itself, but the story around it: the arrival, the atmosphere, your connection, the support from the midwife or partner, the first moments with your baby and all the little things that would otherwise quickly be forgotten.
How does birth photography work during the birth?
I accompany you with my camera and hold back as much as the situation needs. You don't have to do anything for the camera. I photograph without flash, observe, work calmly and capture the moments as they happen.
Do you also photograph in hospital?
Yes. I accompany births in hospital as well as in other places, as long as the location and its rules allow photography. We discuss this together beforehand.
When should I book a birth photographer?
As early as possible. Around your due date I'm on call for 14 days and keep that time free just for you. I don't take on overlapping on-call periods.
But feel free to ask at short notice too. Dates do open up every now and then.
What happens if the birth comes earlier or later?
That's exactly what the on-call period is for. Around your due date I can be reached for 14 days, from 7 days before to 7 days after the date. We'll discuss beforehand how we'll reach each other when the time comes.
Do you also photograph a caesarean?
Yes, in principle a planned caesarean can also be accompanied photographically. What's possible always depends on the hospital and its rules in the operating theatre. We'll discuss together beforehand what is possible and important for you.
Where do you offer birth photography?
I accompany births in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area and in the Rhineland, including Neuss, Cologne, Wuppertal, Gevelsberg and the Ennepe-Ruhr district. It's best to discuss early on whether your planned place of birth is easy for me to reach.
